Summary of Cases That MUFON Investigated
D uring November 2009
In February 2009, BAASS executed a Purchase order with M U FO N that
en titles BAASS to: (a) receive n otification of sign ifican t reports on U AP sightin gs
from an ywhere in the U n ited States within hours, (b) receive timely reports from
M U FO N in vestigators regardin g in vestigation s of these in ciden ts (c) receive
physical eviden ce (in cludin g photographs, digital recordin gs, samples of soil,
in sects, plan ts, an d an imals) for scien tific an alysis. BAASS has multiple
laboratories that are ready to con duct foren sic, photographic, metallurgic,
chemical, isotope, biological, chemical an alysis of an y specimen s that BAASS
receives from M U FO N.
It should be n oted that durin g the mon th of O ctober 2009, BAASS
con ducted an appraisal of M U FO N's performan ce to date. BAASS was dissatisfied
with M U FO N's ten den cy to warehouse sign ifican t sums of mon ey every mon th,
especially durin g the early stages of the con tract. Hen ce, for the remain der of the
con tract, BAASS will be reducin g the mon thly stipen d to M U FO N by $10,000. This
will still en able M U FO N to operate at n ormal efficien cies as they spen d down the
remain in g surplus mon ey.
The followin g are selected in vestigative reports from M U FO N deploymen ts
durin g the mon ths of O ctober 2009.

Two witn esses (father an d 6 yr. old daughter) in a rural area first observed an d
photographed two blue elevated lights in flight approximately a mile away
towards town . Witn ess drove towards objects for better view. U pon arrivin g at
gen eral site, objects con verged in flight upon witn esses from left an d right to a
hoverin g position viewed from fron t auto win dow. Frighten ed by the even t an d
belief that objects began followin g them, witn ess drove rapidly on e half mile
in to town an d a mile beyon d where objects were n o lon ger observed. Daughter
developed a chest rash the n est day.
Narrative:
Thursday 10/15 /09 17:5 0
Drove to M odesto, CA an d arrived 19:07 at Californ ia Highway Patrol at 4030
Kiern an Ave., on ly to fin d the office closed.
Drove the route that reportin g witn ess took on the n ight of his sightin g to
familiarize myself with surroun din gs, abstraction s, lightin g, traffic, an d details
in cluded in his report.
5

Drove to the church an d waited un til 20:00 when witn ess came out of the
church. As soon as we met an d made in troduction s, witn ess offered to show me
his route an d stops for differen t even ts.
We drove south on Tully Road an d stopped midway between Kiern an Ave an d
Ban gs Ave where witn ess took his 3 photos of the 2 blue lights with his cell
phon e lookin g southeast. (We later discovered the location of the 2 blue lights
were very close to the vicin ity of the M odesto Hobby an d Crafts Store on Ban gs
Aven ue east of Tully Road approximately 3000 feet away from witn ess's camera
shots.)
We then drove east on Ban gs Aven ue an d stopped on the east side of the
railroad tracks where witn ess stated, "...my vehicle was con verged on from the
fields from the n orth an d south just before the auto dealership on my right. I
could see them from my fron t win dow approximately thirty to fifty feet (away)
with on e bein g above the other" 1843<a><3 )
1843(a)
We soon discovered the M odesto Hobby an d Crafts Store was on Ban gs Aven ue
approximately 800 feet from the railroad crossin g between the tracks an d the
auto dealership. Hobby store was closed.
We con tin ued to travel east on Ban gs Aven ue past the M odesto Hobby an d
Crafts Store an d auto dealership to the stoplight on M cHen ry Aven ue where we
turn ed right an d drove two blocks through Pelan dale Aven ue where witn ess's
daughter had stated, "Daddy, it is followin g us". From this location , an
illumin ated aerial object above the railroad crossin g could still be in view at
approximately 4400 feet away.
We drove on e block farther south on M cHen ry to approach the n ext stoplight at
E. U n ion Aven ue where, on the n ight of this even t, a police car was parked an d
man y workers had been repavin g the road. When witn ess's daughter was asked
if she still saw it, she said, "Yes". It is question able if these other people had also
6

seen these blue lights although approximately 6000 feet from the railroad
crossin g.
By the time we drove an other block (~ 1200 feet) south on M cHen ry Aven ue to
Stan diford Aven ue, witn ess's daughter had said, "It wen t away". (Total distan ce
from railroad crossin g "7200 feet)
I didn 't see an y rash on witn ess's daughter's chest. ******* will sen d me a
picture of it. The origin of the rash is un kn own , perhaps stress.
I did n ot fin d an y kn owledgeable person at the Boyett Gas Service Station in the
vicin ity to in terview.
Witn ess was lean in g towards the hobby shop model remote con trolled airplan e
hoax scen ario through discussion with frien ds. Because of this in clin ation ,
witn ess does n ot wan t to talk to BAASS or an y other third party. I have good
workin g commun ication s n ow through witn ess for n etworkin g in the M odesto
area an d I expect to hear from him as he explores his suspicion s further with his
person al frien ds an d hobby store.

The witn ess ******* saw a large craft lan d in the woods through his bedroom
win dow at approximately 1:30 AM the morn in g of O ct. 25 , 2009. He an d his wife
watched it through the win dow for between 15 an d 30 min utes before he
decided to go outside for a better view. When ******* wen t outside he n oticed
that there were also several small objects much closer, low in the woods. He
wen t in to the house, woke his eleven year old son , grabbed bin oculars an d they
both wen t outside to get a closer look. The two of them saw the large craft deep
in the woods which was an upright trian gle shape with several differen t color
lights; silver, green , blue, oran ge, an d red all flashin g. In the woods much lower,
were three "saucer" shaped oran ge/red lights which were in a field to the west.
Two of these were in the woods below the far n eighbors dusk to dawn s an d the
third even lower bein g seen by ******* an d his son while on their kn ees on the
back deck of their home. Farther to the left of their deck (west), they spotted 3
more oran ge/red lights in the woods an d a little farther to the left on e blue light
that briefly flashed for a total of seven lights, n ot coun tin g the craft. These light
were small an d spin n in g an d so bright that they were visible even without the
bin oculars. After about an hour, the lights chan ged from saucer shaped to roun d
an d began spin n in g in a differen t man or. They were n ow the shape an d size of a
soccer ball havin g compressed but n ot more than half their origin al size. The
lights still proceeded to flash oran ge/red brighter an d dimmer an d move slowly
about the woods as they spun . The large craft stayed station ary. This was all in
the woods behin d the family's home the craft bein g directly n orth an d the lights
bein g south/west of the craft. After hikin g with ******* through the woods an d
fin din g the spot, we determin ed by usin g my ran ge fin der that the large craft had
lan ded .7 miles behin d *******'s house in the direction directly n orth.
After an hour or so of viewin g the craft an d the lights, ******* n oticed a figure of
what he thought was a person stan din g on the ridge behin d the house much
closer than the craft or lights. (He n oticed this because a deer ran close by across
the woods in fron t of him sn ortin g.) The bein g was determin ed to be about five
feet tall an d wearin g somethin g horizon tally striped, that was black an d white an d
loose fittin g like a down jacket. The bein g was holdin g somethin g in his/its left
han d an d had it up to its mouth like he was talkin g in to it. There was also what
looked like a back-pack placed on the groun d in fron t of the bein g at its feet.
******* describec| the figure's face an d han ds as bein g white in color. He was
lookin g through bin oculars an d wasn 't sure if it was skin he was seein g or some
type of mask. After measurin g the area an d viewin g the video tape that I took of
the area, we determin ed the bein g to be stan din g about 5 0 yards from the back of
11

their home. I asked ******* what he did when he saw the bein g, an d he said that
he told his son to run in the house which his son did. ******* said that he stared
at the bein g through bin oculars for several min utes seemin g to be "starin g each
other out". I asked him when , why, an d how did this en d. The reply was that he
got tired an d decided to go in side the house. ******* then described watchin g
the craft through the bedroom win dow fallin g asleep an d re-awakin g to watch
periodically un til about 5 :30AM when he woke to check for the last time an d the
craft was gon e. He thought that he was on ly asleep for about 15 -20 min utes but
missed the craft leavin g the woods.

aap Person |m is sou ri M U FO N Assistan t State Director, who was assistin g me on
this case, in terviewed the other witn esses who were *** ♦***'$ wife, an d two
son s. I hiked in to the wood with ******* jn an attempt to fin d some trace
eviden ce of the lan din g sight. The sight was due n orth .7 miles from the back of
******* >s home as we determin ed later with my ran ge fin der. We walked
through the woods to a ridge which we suspected to be where the bein g was
stan din g the n ight of the sightin g. We came to this con clusion because this was
the on ly place in the area in question where the bein g would be visible as close as
he/it was seen from the back deck of *******'s home. This area was about 5 0
yards away. When we reached this ridge, I n oticed a chipmun k on a small tree
1843(a)(2)
an d a few feet away a turtle. Both were alive an d very close to where the bein g
stood. *******'s dog who we took with us to determin e if there was an y
an imal reaction , sat in this spot with n o remorse. But, when we hiked down the
1843(a)(2) ridge she refusec| to follow. ___ made her way west stayin g on the ridge but
watchin g us cross the woods. We hiked down through rough terrain , up an other
ridge, across a small creek, an d across more rough terrain . Even though this area
was fairly flat with some trees down , ******* determin ed that this couldn 't be
the spot because he couldn 't see his house. We made our way up an other ridge
an d down , across a barbed wire fen ce, up an d over an other ridge to an other flat
area deep in the woods. From this poin t we could see the back of *******'s
home through bin oculars an d he determin ed that this was the right distan ce away
in to the woods. We hiked aroun d carefully n ot disturbin g an y possible foot
prin ts, tracts, etc. I n otice an area with small bare spots but this was as obvious
wash off from a ridge farther n orth. Further to the west of this area I n oticed
12

broken trees. Some were old breaks but several were n ew broken limbs an d
small uprooted trees. I also came across an un characteristic bare area which I
measured to be 6 foot 6 in ches, by 7 foot 6 in ches square. There were heavy
leaves coverin g the en tire area except for this on e spot which was bare except for
a few leaves which had blown over it. I took a readin g with my Geiger coun ter
an d EM F meter but n othin g registered. To the n orth edge of this bare area I could
see pushed over dirt like it was clean ly scraped from the surface takin g all the
grass an d leaves with it. The dirt area left wasn 't dug in where I could make a
mold, but seemed to me to be raised a bit over the rest of the area terrain . I
collected a dirt sample from the cen ter of this area, an d a sample from the area
that was pushed up. I also took a compass readin g of the area as referen ce
n oticin g that was my compass was off. I lin ed myself up to the house directly as I
had don e before we left an d it read 40 degrees off to the east in stead of due
n orth as it should have. I walked east about thirty feet an d took an other readin g
which was 20 degrees off to the east, then back to the spot which again was 40
degrees off. I teach un derwater n avigation so I kn ow how to use a compass an d
this was defin itely off. The compass read 40 degrees off even when I walked
thirty feet to the west of the patch of dirt which I will assume at this poin t could
be the possible lan din g sight. Aroun d this area (in about a 25 foot ratio) were
small raised areas in the groun d as well. These ran ged from football size to twice
that size. These areas looked like mole moun ds but much bigger. M ost of them
were raised up with brown dirt, but two of them had a stran ge oran gish clay
color. I took dirt samples of these as well.
An other stran ge effect was *******'s dog[23 First she sat where the .... 1843(a)(2)
un iden tified bein g stood, n ext she refused to cross the terrain with ******* an d
me but made her way aroun d to the west of us, an d fin ally her last reaction to the
area. ******* had been carryin g my Star Team bag for me. (He was a real
gen tleman an d in sisted). When he lay the bag down on sight, I even tually moved
it close to the bare spot I was documen tin g. came over to it an d lay down 1843(a)(2)
n ext to the bag n ot budgin g un til we left the sight. The bag had *******'s scen t
on it an d it seemed like she was usin g it as a safe place.
After documen tin g the possible craft lan din g sight, we traveled southwest
towards the areas where the balls of light were seen . About 75 feet from the
primary sight I spotted two mysteries holes. They were side by side, an d exactly 1
foot 6 in ches apart. These holes were aroun d 10 in ches deep with a n arrow hole
area at an an gle at the bottom. At first I thought they were sn ake holes, so I
cleared off the leaves an d n oticed that the hole at the bottom en ded. These two
13

matchin g holes were 1 ft 4 in . X 1 ft 4 in . roun d at the top each bein g the same. I
took pictures as documen tation . At this time we were at about 5 :30PM an d
loosin g light. We still had two more sights to get to before dark an d several
in ches of rain movin g in the n ext day so we moved on .
******* tO ok me to an other Sjght which was a large grassy area. This is where he
suspected that three of the balls of light were. All we saw were horse shoe tracts,
deer tracks an d dun g. We hiked to the n ext area where we were met with an
electric fen ce. This is where he saw the other three oran ge/red balls of light an d
the on e brief blue on e. At the far en d of the field we n oticed an other square bare
area. I took pictures an d video for referen ce. U pon viewin g the video I n oticed
that this area was n othin g like the sight foun d before, but an area where the
ran cher places hay for his horses/cattle.
The area in question we covered was a min imum % mile wide, an d .7 miles from
the witn ess's home. Because of this, n o out of area dirt samples were possible.
* ****** a|SQ ^1^ me a|;j0U t an occurren ce on M on day n ight O ct. 26, 2009 at
about 1:30 AM (techn ically O ct. 27th.) ******* was out watchin g the n ight sky,
for obvious reason s, when he saw 2 military jets flyin g grids across the sky. He
watched them from 1:30 AM to 2:30/3:00 AM . They were flyin g search pattern
grids an d dropped 3 flares lightin g the sky. He said that the flares were dropped
at differen t times to keep the sky lit. Because of the fog that n ight the sky/woods
seemed to almost glow blue with the oran ge flares. ******* told me that if they

At approximately 19:33,2 m iles west of S anto TX, I was in the process of feeding m y dogs when I noticed out of the
com er of eye a (flash) b right light. I stopped to look (190* S S W ) and the b right light b egan to dim , then im mediately a
second light illuminated for one second, then a third for one second and then a fourth. After the fourth illum ination, I
saw 4 tiny white dots m oving very slowlv across the sky and within a second or two all the lights disappeared. They
reappeared in alm ost the sam e area, in the sam e pattern and it happened again for a total of 3 cycles.
They were approxim ately 200ft AGL, 2 m iles from our hom e. The Interstate is a m ile from home and the sighting
ab out a m ile further on. These lights were very slow m oving. U sing the I-20 hwy ascom panson of 70-75 M PH , these
lights were going ab out 30 M PH heading ES E. At junction of F M 4. ob jects turned m ore to S S E. (there is another
witness according to this witness who also saw the ob ject at this time). The colors were a white (yellowish orange)
that seem to change colors and almost flicker.
I cannot help b ut see som e controlling factor in these actions. The difference here seem s to b e a flicker ing of the
lights and 4 lights. W itness is a pilot, works for 1843(a)(2) have extremely accurate descriptions and was the b est
witness.

W itness said all the lights were a b right white, b ut his wife said they were m ore orangy. W itness indicated that trucks
on the Interstate are app 4" long to his sight, and this ob ject was 10-12' long. H e estim ated that the ob ject was
approximately 200' long. There m ay b e others calls on this generated b y his friend and co-workers.
This witness said when the lights would com e on, they were like explosions. N o sound, just a b right flash as they
cam e on. W itness also indicated that he did not here any jets at that time or later.

I was driving hom e from m y in-laws house who live in the Greens creek area b etween S tephenville and D ub lin b ut m ore
near D ub lin with m y four year old and 12 week old in the car with m e. It was not long after I turned off of C ounty R oad 242
which I had b een heading north, on to another county road, I b elieve it is C ounty R oad 381 heading south east. It was not
long after I turned onto C ounty R oad 381 that I noticed two b right lights in the sky.
O ut of the view from m y windshield the light to m y left was slightly higher M y initial reaction was that they were planets,
they were orangish in ?nlor and they were larger than star. I slowed down and leaned forward in m y seat to investigate
what I was seeing. I soon realize they were far too large to b e planets alm ost as soon as I cam e to this realization a
another light appeared ab ove and to the left of the light on m y right and then another light appeared ab ove the new light
and to its left forming a straight line at ab out a 45-60 degree angle.
The lights were stationary in the sky never m oving. As the new lights appeared I started freaking out. As you well know
U F O sightings are prevalent in our area and I could not b elieve that I could b e possib ly witnessing it for m yself. Prob ab ly a
second after the new lights apoeared they faded b eginning with the first light on m y left and then they were all com pletelY
gone. O nce the lights on the left started to show up I did not pay as m uch attention to the light on the far right___________
21

I do not b elieve it changed b ut do not recall when for sure it faded although I know it was within seconds of the other
lights. In all the event took place in prob ab ly less than 2 m inutes. The thought of the U F O sightings did not occurred to
m e as the third and fourth light appeared b ut it was really the m anner that the lights faded that convinced m e that I had iust
witnessed som ething strange._________________________________________________________________________________
I was very excited and shocked ab out what I had just seen and got on the phone to share it with m y husb and
im mediately. M y outgoing call to him was at 7:44 P.M . Therefore I approxim ate the sighting took place at 7 42 P.M J just
received word via F aceb ook that a friend of m ine also witnessed lights in the sky this evening although I do not know the
specifics of their sighting.
According to the C lark F ield M unicipal Airfield M anager, another m an had told him of 3 helicopters off hwy 377 b etween
D ub lin and S tephenville in a triangulation and range finding exercise a week or two b efore the 25®.
This area does correspond to the location of som e of the sightings. W ith the dates of the sightings b eing on the 18®, that
lands exactly 1 week to the day of the sightings. H e indicated that the high-intensity lights were not orange, b ut white. R ed
and green navigation lights were also visib le. This does not agree with a few other witnesses, b ut they m ay have b een too
far from them to see navigation lights
. I will m ake note of the fact here that aircraft do not have to run with lights while in the Brownwood M O A's. O f note, C lark
field has no radios and no radar. C onsideration was given to the possib ility of the H elicopters com ing from F t. H ood, D yess

F igure 3 Brownwood 1 East M OA is over m ost of the sighting area and close to the rest. It m ight b e

O n a radar im age out of D F W , (F igure 6) given the distance, the orange im age b elow the b lue sighting line indicates that
this ob ject was b etween 4000 and 6000 ft ab ove ground. H ard targets in red-orange west were in Brown county headed
east al or ab ove 10000 fl.
To b e that far away and that high eliminates m ost, if not all ground clutter, b irds, b ugs, etc. Ths large yellow target also
Indicates a solid target. It is also im portant to realize that the call to witness's husb and was m ade at 7:44 pm and she
guessed the time of sighting at 7:42 pm . I b elieve this all falls within the limes of the radar im age. Video of the radar
sighting every 10 m inutes showed that the traffic in the lower left of F igureO, (red and orange) was m oving In an eastward
direction. Additional radar searching is needed to finish this_____________________________________________________

i b egin in saying that this is not an unordinary event as we see these lights every once in a while outside in our yard
we live way out in the country 8 m iles out from a town so at night it is quite easy to see anything in the night sky. W e
never have reported these sightings as a lot of people do around here as we live 8 m iles from S tephenville TX and 10
or so m iles from D ub lin Texas, b ut last night we saw the lights at the sam e level in the sky .(direction and level not
availab le at this b m e).id say at least? of these. It was around dinner time so i was in the kitchen at first and since the
lights had b een seen lately we had b een looking outside once in a while at night
M y husb and and i walked out and were only out for a m inute and then we saw them...i guess that was a lucky thing. I
didn’t have to wonder what it was since these lights have b een seen here off and on for quite a while now...quess
they like the dairies around this area of teas. The rather round orange lights (that look alm ost all the sam e sizeliust
last a few seconds then they disappear.
27

O f course your real excited when we are seeing these lights, and then they are gone (mayb e not really gone, just
change position so we can no longer see them), .almost always afterwards we see the b linking of jets and hear the
jets coming in the area. H ave not reached this witness and have no reply to email.. S ince we had had som e news
only a couple of weeks ago ab out the unexplained lights again in the S tephenville paper people in this area start

Area residents are once again reporting strange lights in the sky ab ove Erath C ounty, and m uch like the reports that flooded in
following a widespread sighting in January 2008, witnesses say the amb er glowing orb s are like nothing they've seen b efore.
In the m ost recent unexplained sighting, a H amilton C ounty b usinessman was greeted b y the lights as he left a m eeting.
Jerry M cAdams, pub lisher of the H ico N ews R eview and H ico IS D school b oard m em b er, said he was leaving a b oard m eeting
M onday with a fellow b oard m em b er when they saw (wo amb er lights, which were level with each other and seem ed to hover In
the sky.
'They (the lights) were low in the sky and disappeared in ab out five seconds,' M cAdams said. 'Then two m ore appeared, closer
together.'
H e said the lights disappeared several times and reappeared seconds later. Each time the lights were the same amb er color,
and appeared at different heights and varying distances apart. M cAdams said the lights did not m ove when they were visib le or
b link. H e also said the lights were not like those typically associated with aircraft.
'They were not red, green or white. They did not flash like on an airplane,' he said. 'There was no m otion. Each time they
appeared, they were further to the left. I would say they came and went in three cycles.'
M cAdam s said he could not determine the distance of the lights from his H amilton C ounty vantage point, b ut said the lights were
to the west, in the direction of D ub lin, in the southwest portion of Erath C ounty.
'I have never seen anything like that b efore,' M cAdams said. 'But I do b elieve what I saw was like previous (reported) sightings.'
Two D ub lin area neighb ors, who asked to rem ain anonym ous, were in their hom es when the m en walked out and saw 'all kinds
of lights, all across the sky" M onday.
The m en captured what they saw on a cell phone. The grainy recording offers a glimpse of an amb er light that appears in the sky
several tim es, and captures the excitem ent of the group.
O ne of the m en said they first saw a single b all of light, 'not like a flashlight or aircraft,' which suddenly spawned several other
lights.
'It was like the lights were coming off the first b all (of light) we saw,' the m an said. 'And they kept coming, one after another, and
m oved in every direction.'
The m an said the lights were white and amb er and the whole spectacle lasted a little m ore than a m inute. H e said no sound was
associated with the sighting, until jets rushed toward the display.
H e also said he is not ready to say he saw an alien aircraft, b ut does b elieve the unidentified lights were im pressive.
'I don't know what it was, b ut whatever the lights were, they were truly awesome,* he said.

’ Yep, even the weather can affect how far away things can be heard at night and from Hico to Dublin or Hamilton you wouldn't hear much due
to the distance. I have a pretty good view of the Dublin skies now, but have never seen any of these reported events.
I am aware of an event though that cannot be explained away as flares. F16's, heleccpiers, stealth bombers and the like. It would be nice to

takes a route which goes through a rural area with curvin g roads. He said
that he was "semi-tired but n ot tired en ough to blan k out." He was playin g
Christmas CDs on the radio an d sin gin g as he drove. He drove through
U n ion ville up to the M in isin k Turn pike. Comin g aroun d a ben d in the road,
he could see an object about a mile away - it looked pretty small. As he
came to the n ext turn , he slowed down to about 25 miles to get a better
look at it, then it was almost on top of him an d he doesn 't un derstan d how
it crossed the distan ce from where he first saw it to where he was in such a
short time.
> He stopped his vehicle alon g the side of the road an d remembers puttin g
the car in PARK, with the en gin e run n in g. He could n ow also see that it

looked cigar-shaped an d was turn in g clockwise slowly (on axis) as it came
towards him. He described the speed as slow like a hot air balloon . When
asked to compare the size of the object to an aspirin at arm's len gth, the
witn ess said that it would be about the size of a baseball.
> Accordin g to the witn ess description , there were lights (blue, white, red,
white an d blue in that order) so he kn ew it wasn 't a plan e. He heard a
soun d like a cat that was purrin g at a low frequen cy (con tin uously vibratin g)
> As the object passed over the witn esses vehicle, the en gin e just stopped as
if someon e had turn ed off the ign ition . The Witn ess tried to use his cell
phon e but it wouldn 't work despite the fact that he always keeps it
charged. He also tried to roll down the electric car win dow but it wouldn 't
work either. He thought about gettin g out. He open ed the door slightly
but then recon sidered an d closed the door.
> When he looked at the lights they seemed very bright but they didn 't
illumin ate the groun d; the witn ess said he can 't explain this aspect as it
doesn 't make an y sen se to him. The craft appeared gun metal gray again st
the dark sky.
> After about 1.5 min utes the craft's lights blin ked out an d the witn esses
vehicle started up without an y action on the part of the witn ess. He put
the car in to drive an d put the pedal down . All he wan ted to do was fin d
someon e, fin d civilization . He was terrified! He didn 't even
> look in his rearview mirror an d says there is "n o way I'm goin g to take that
road again ." Witn ess recalled run n in g through several STO P sign s on the
way home. He said that he n early crashed the car in to a fen ce he was so
scared. The witn ess stated that he actually doesn 't wan t to even drive
alon g that road again .
42

> When he got home, he told his wife who said "well, maybe it was a plan e"
but the witn ess kn ows that it wasn 't a plan e. His wife also suggested that
he call the police but he didn 't see what good that would do. In stead, he
paced back an d forth an d dran k a beer. He was so un n erved that he
couldn 't sleep for about two hours. He then goggled "how to report a U FO "
an d the first thin g that came up was M U FO N. He said that he wrote down
exactly what remembered in his report. He wan ts to kn ow what it is.

The lights were last observed about three or four mon ths ago,
however a more specific time frame could n ot be determin ed. They
described the lights as bein g completely white an d believed to have

Plant Germination Experiment for Utah Ranch
There are multiple reports in the peer reviewed literature that pertain to
effects of magn etic fields an d electromagn etic radiation of differen t frequen cies
on germin ation of seeds (multiple plan t species). BAASS scien tific staff has
in itiated several series of plan t germin ation experimen ts in order to test the
hypothesis that en viron men tal factors on the U tah ran ch may have an effect on

Seed Germin ation Protocol
1. Soak seeds in water for 30 min utes. This allows seeds to absorb water
allowin g for faster germin ation .
2. Place three sheets of paper in petri dishes an d add en ough water to
moisten paper.
3. Place 10 seeds of each seed type on to paper to main tain adequate
spacin g. See Figure 2 for pattern of seed placemen t. Set up two petri
dishes per seed type per location . Choose a location with high activity an d
an area of low activity.
4. Place petri dishes on a table that is out of the flow of gen eral traffic. See
Figure 1 for setup.
5 . Depen din g on humidity levels, add water as n eeded. Do n ot allow paper
to dry out.
6. Try to main tain a con sisten t temperature, as close to 70 degrees as
possible.
7. Check seeds for germin ation twice a day, on ce in the morn in g an d on ce at
n ight. See Figure 3 for pictures of actual seed germin ation .
8. Take close up photographs of seeds durin g examin ation s. M ake sure
seeds/seedlin gs are visible on photos. U se attached sheet for recordin g
seed germin ation .
9. Run experimen t for full deploymen t or un til seedlin gs become too big for
petri dishes, whichever occurs first.
Addition al measuremen ts an d observation s:
1. Note if an y seedlin gs die off
2. Brin g germin ated seeds back to BAASS followin g deploymen t.

Tamper-Proof Games Located on the Ranch
There are n umerous an ecdotal reports from the security officers (see
previous section —reports from security officers) of the un explain ed movemen t,
tran slocation , in version or disturban ce of pen n y coin s that have been left at
various location s in side an d outside the double wide trailer on the U tah ran ch.
However, all of these an ecdotal reports suffer from the obvious criticisms that
they can be easily explain ed by (a) fraud perpetrated by the officers, (b)
trespassers, (c) an imals etc. In short these reports are difficult to in terpret.
Therefore, BAASS has devised a series of experimen ts for the U tah ran ch
that are assembled in Las Vegas, photographed, locked in briefcases an d secured
at BAASS an d then tran sported to the U tah ran ch. The keys to the briefcases
remain in Las Vegas. An example of on e series is shown below.
113

All of the "brain teaser" games require a modicum of effort, an alysis an d
in telligen ce to assemble an d can n ot be assembled (or disassembled) ran domly.
The locked briefcases con tain in g the games are then position ed in a "hotspot" on
the ran ch for a mon th. The briefcase is then return ed to Las Vegas an d open ed
an d the con ten ts examin ed for an y differen ces.
114

Puzzles Requiring Intelligence to Complete
The followin g experimen t assumes a low level of mathematical kn ow-how
on the part of an y phen omen on on the U tah Ran ch: briefly, a series of dark
colored tiles are arran ged (glued) to the graph paper in a locked, tamper proof
light box as a Fibon acci series (01,1,2,3,5 ,8,13,21,34,5 5 ....) an d the challen ge for
an y in telligen ce on the ran ch is to assemble the n ext n umber of tiles in the
Fibon acci series (see photograph below). The boxes are locked shut with padlocks
with keys bein g kept in as Vegas. The Fibon acci boxes are station ed in both
Homestead #2 an d in the doublewide trailer.

Conclusion
M an y of the importan t BAASS projects, in cludin g Northern Tier, en try in to
classified archives. Project O ral History, as well as con tactin g key people in the
military an d private sector are on hold because BAASS curren tly does n ot have
the Need to Kn ow for this in formation . BAASS in collaboration with the spon sor
has recen tly taken ten tative steps to con tact some organ ization s within the U SG
that may have access to material an d archives. These con tacts are at much too a

In spite of the above impedimen ts, sign ifican t progress has been made in
train in g an d in itially deployin g BAASS field in vestigative teams durin g the fall 2009
mon ths. A large part of the curren t in vestigation s at BAASS are focused on the
U tah ran ch an d surroun din g areas. The BAASS M U FO N relation ship is bein g
closely mon itored especially sin ce the case n umbers that M U FO N are alertin g

BAASS database of cases is n ow larger than an y other database own ed by U AP
organ ization s in North America. It should be n oted that BAASS has in itiated a
separate Capella database for the even ts on the U tah ran ch an d surroun din g
areas, a report on which will be forthcomin g in the comin g mon ths.
